EWRI | Pecan Springs Karst Preserve Tour 2024

Join EWRI Austin on Saturday, June 22 for a Pecan Springs Karst Tour!

EWRI Austin is excited to host a group tour from 10am-1pm at the Pecan Springs Karst Preserve in Jarrell, Texas on Saturday, June 22nd. The tour will include a visit to the preserve as well as to Elm Bat Cave (see photos below). The tour will require some walking as well as driving, and a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended.

Deadline to sign up for the tour is Friday, June 14! More information on the meeting location and tour will be provided closer to the tour date.

Things to bring with you:

  • As Pecan Springs Karst Preserve is a nature preserve, please leave all pets in the comfort of your home.

  • The tour will be entirely outdoors, so dress for the weather and don't forget sunscreen!

  • We highly recommend wearing lightweight long pants and closed-toed shoes.

  • Please bring a full bottle of water. It’s going to be a very hot day so keeping hydrated before, during, and after the tour is very important.

Information about the Preserve:

Pecan Springs Karst Preserve is 1,205 acres of beautiful, ecologically-sensitive land in northern Williamson County, 5 miles west of Jarrell, Texas. The property sits within the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone and is home to at least 19 different species including Salado Salamanders, Golden-cheeked Warblers, and Tricolored Bats.
