Speaker: Mike Trimble, Director, Corridor Program Office, City of Austin

Mike Trimble has more than 20 years of experience in bringing effective, innovative strategies to the public sector for improved outcomes. During his tenure at the City of Austin, Mike has emerged as a leader in providing innovative solutions for capital programs development and management as well as for helping the City achieve its multi-modal transportation goals.

In 2010, Mike was chosen to head the City of Austin’s new Capital Planning Office, which was established to create a more robust, strategic, and integrated Capital Improvement Program for the city. Under his leadership, the Capital Planning Office was recognized by the American Planning Association and the Public Technology Institute for its innovative and effective approaches to municipal CIP strategic planning.

Following the passage of Austin’s largest-ever transportation bond in 2016, Mike was appointed Director of the newly created Corridor Program Office. Under his leadership, the office manages the implementation of the $1.5 Billion Corridor Mobility Program and aims to improve mobility, safety, and connectivity on key Austin Corridors for all modes of transportation as well as to support the achievement of community goals such as affordability, sustainability, and equity.

Mr. Trimble has also been appointed by City of Austin leadership to lead the development, design, and construction of the I-35 Cap and Stitch Project. This project seeks to leverage TxDOT’s I-35 highway reconstruction program to create enhanced connections and community spaces as the highway is lowered below street level through Central Austin.

Mike is a graduate of Texas A&M University, is a certified Project Portfolio Management Professional through the Project Management Institute, and is accredited by the Congress for New Urbanism.
