12th ANNUAL ENGINEERS DAY – FEBRUARY 15TH, 2014: Event Info | Register

Become a Mentor!

In Fall 2010 we were fortunate to have 24 volunteers from the Austin Branch of ASCE participate in our UT/ASCE mentoring program.

NadiaA class of 56 students participated in 6 group projects as part of the Engineering Professionalism class taught by Dr. Robert Gilbert. The Neighborhood Connectivity Division of the City of Austin Public Works Department was the client, and Nadia Barrera served as our Project Manager, coordinating the scopes, schedule, and team deliverables.

Students conducted site assessments, evaluated alternatives, and participated in a stakeholder input meeting over the course of the semester. We are extremely pleased at the excellent caliber of deliverables, thanks in no small part to our many generous professional mentors from the Austin Branch of ASCE!

We are ramping up for the next class, where we anticipate having even more groups (and ideally at least as many professional mentors). If you are interested in participating in the Spring 2011 program, please contact Rose Marie Klee at rosemarie.klee@jacobs.com. Participation may be counted toward the continuing education required by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, and a certificate documenting your PDH’s can be provided upon request.

On behalf of the Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering Department of the University of Texas at Austin, a very special thanks to each of our Fall 2010 mentors:
