Saturday, February 13th, 2010 from 10:00 PM to 2:00 PM

E-Week is on the way and so is the annual Engineer’s Day at the Austin Children’s Museum organized by ASCE. Help kids build a hoop glider and see how far it goes… Watch how high they can build a newspaper tower that supports a golf ball… Lend a hand to help them build all kinds of structures with spaghetti and marshmallows – you’ll be surprised at their creativity!

Saturday, February 13th, the Austin Branch ASCE and the Greater Austin Contractors and Engineers Association (ACEA) will jointly host the 9th Annual Engineer’s Day at the Austin Children’s Museum!

ASCE is seeking volunteers to commit to one of two shifts. Pass the word to anyone else who may be interested! Volunteers can choose a morning shift from 9:00 to 12 noon, or an afternoon shift from 11:30 to 2:30. We anticipate up to 400 children will attend throughout the day.  Training will be minimal and take place just before your shift. You will also receive a certificate for PDH credit.

We’ve had over 200 children attend each day over the last eight years.  The children’s Museum does still charge admission on the day of the event, and we make an effort to obtain sponsorship money to pay for as many admissions as possible, in order to encourage attendance at the event. The Austin Branch and ACEA are helping fund the admissions, however we need another admissions sponsor to assist at the $1,000 sponsorship level. Admissions sponsors have the opportunity to display a banner at the museum if they would like. Additionally we are looking for general event sponsors at $150 or $250, and activity table sponsors at $500 to fund supplies for the activities and give-aways for the kids.  In exchange for your sponsorship, your company name will be included on all press kits/media announcements, printed promotional materials handed out to the children and museum guests and on a display board at the museum on the day of the event. Table sponsors will additional get their company name on a sign at an activity table. If you wish, you may also provide small give-away items with your company name/logo to be placed in the take-home goody bags the kids receive.

If your firm is interested in sponsoring the event, or if you have any questions, please email or call a PR Committee Member:
